Rural and Veterinary Innovation Centre

State of the art premises for SRUC and new home for bio-science businesses

The Rural and Veterinary Innovation Centre

The Rural and Veterinary Innovation Centre (RAVIC) has been developed by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) to drive growth in Scotland’s health, agriculture and aquaculture sectors.

RAVIC’s mission is to address globally important animal and human health, agriculture, and aquaculture needs – positioning SRUC as a leader in sustainable planetary health innovation.

Set up to forge new links between science and industry,  RAVIC will seamlessly integrate SRUC’s existing expertise spanning veterinary services, research and education, to offer tailored support for innovation and development.

Academics, students, research groups and businesses will coexist and collaborate to help overcome sectorial challenges including climate change, emerging health threats such as avian influenza and antimicrobial resistance, food security and market instability.

The state of the art, eco-friendly premises contains five commercial incubation units, an open plan hot-desking space, a dedicated lecture theatre, and modern wet and dry molecular, necropsy, and microbiology facilities.

Part of SRUC’s new School of Veterinary Medicine, the new Highland hub offers world class facilities, equipment, and expertise to help deliver new technologies, products, and services essential for growing the natural economy. Supporting new start, spinout and inward investment opportunities RAVIC will be at the centre of creating and sustaining rural jobs and recruitment across key sectors.
