Key to the futureCudrom san àm ri teachd

The Inverness Campus is one of the most important developments for the Highlands and Islands in the next 20 years. Construction will soon be underway to create a multi-stakeholder academic and research Campus which will deliver significant economic benefits by creating a modern centre of excellence for education, research and innovation.

The Campus will be a state-of-the-art development, encouraging education, research and business organisations to work collaboratively to create a unique learning environment and benefit the Highland economy. The Campus will also enable further development of the life sciences sector in the region. The Highlands and Islands region has seen its life science sector expand rapidly in recent years.

The Inverness Campus proposal encompasses facilities for UHI, Inverness College, SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) and expansion of the Centre for Health Science. Within a public parkland setting, provision is made for sports and recreational amenities serving the local community and student accommodation.

In addition to the academic aspects of the Campus, the project includes an innovation science park for private sector R&D, and business incubation which will stimulate new employment and bring greater economic benefits to the Highlands.

Independent research estimates that Inverness Campus has the potential to support up to 6,000 jobs over the next 30 years, with figures showing the completed first phase of the Campus could attract future investment of over £100 million to the area, whilst generating £38 million to the Highlands and Islands economy every year.
