Inverness Campus is one of the most important developments proposed for the city - a multi-stakeholder project that will deliver significant economic benefits by creating a modern centre for education, research and innovation.
The vision is a campus that will play a major role in the future of UHI Millennium Institute, the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands, and will allow a number of key education and research bodies to come together to form a unique learning environment in Inverness.
The Campus will be one of the most significant development projects in the Highlands and Islands in the next 20 years and a key aspect of the planned expansion of East Inverness. Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has taken on the responsibility for encouraging stakeholder participation and driving the Inverness Campus project forward.
The Inverness Campus outline planning application includes facilities suitable for Inverness College, UHI, SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) and expansion of the Centre for Health Science. It also makes provision for sports and recreational amenities for the local community, plus public green spaces and student accommodation.
In addition to the academic aspects of the Campus, the proposals also include an innovation science park for private sector R&D, commercialisation and business incubation, which will stimulate new employment in the area.
