Transport is an important consideration for any large development. In the case of Inverness Campus new infrastructure is required, including creating a suitable new point of access to the site, and allowances need to be made to take account of the proposed Inverness Trunk Link Road (TLR).

Transport expert WA Fairhurst and Partners has developed a Transport Assessment (TA) for the Inverness Campus application. The TA will be considered by The Highland Council and Transport Scotland, the government agency responsible for Scotland's trunk road network.

The TA takes account of national, regional and local policy in the context of the proposed development. It predicts travel demands by all modes of transport, identifies appropriate infrastructure improvements to pedestrian and cycle access routes, and addresses public transport services that will directly serve the Campus.
Consideration has been given to the predicted traffic impacts of the development on the Inverness road network using The Highland Council traffic model, and alterations that may be required to the city's road infrastructure have been identified.

The assessment looks at the impact Inverness Campus will have on the current and proposed strategic road network and it also considers how the Campus could affect other committed and proposed developments in the vicinity, including proposals contained within the A96 Growth Corridor Development Framework.

The Campus Transport Strategy and Travel Plan, contained in the TA, outlines incentive and restraint measures designed to encourage sustainable travel and discourage single occupancy private car use in the vicinity of the proposed development. The provision of connections to the Inverness Core Path Network, frequent direct bus services to the Campus, and the use of parking controls on site are all envisaged as a part of the strategy to minimise the transportation impact of Inverness Campus.

Collaborative dialogue is ongoing in relation to access proposals by all modes of transport. HIE and its consultants are working closely with The Highland Council, Transport Scotland and public transport providers, to deliver a transport system that will be sustainable and will deliver benefits to the local community.

Tha còmhdhail cudromach ann an leasachadh mòr sam bith. A thaobh Àrainn Inbhir Nis, bidh feum air bun-structar ùr a bhios a’ gabhail a-steach slighe ùr a-steach chun na làraich agus feumar a bhith mothachail air Prìomh-rathad Ceangail Inbhir (TLR) mar a tha san amharc.

Tha na h-eòlaichean còmhdhala WA Fairhurst ’s an Compàirtichean air Measadh Còmhdhala  (TA) a dhèanamh airson tagradh Àrainn Inbhir Nis. Beachdaichidh Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd agus Transport Scotland, a’ bhuidheann riaghaltais le uallach airson rathaidean Alba, air a’ mheasadh.

Tha an TA mothachail air poileasaidh nàiseanta, sgìreil is ionadail co-cheangailte ris an leasachadh a thathar a’ moladh. Tha e a’ dèanamh ro-innse air iarrtasan siubhail bho gach seòrsa còmhdhala, a’ comharrachadh leasachaidhean iomchaidh air bun-structar slighean rothairean is luchd-coiseachd, agus tha e a’ coimhead air seirbheisean còmhdhala phoblaich a bhios a’ frithealadh na h-Àrainn gu dìreach.

Chaidh beachdachadh air a’ bhuaidh a dh’fhaodadh trafaig a thoirt air leasachadh rathaidean Inbhir Nis le bhith a’ cleachdadh modail trafaig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd, agus chaidh na h-atharraichean a dh’fheumte ’s dòcha a dhèanamh air bun-structar rathaidean a’ bhaile a chomharrachadh.

Tha am measadh a’ coimhead air a’ bhuaidh a bheir Àrainn Inbhir Nis air an ro-innleachd a thathar a’ moladh do rathaidean an-dràsta agus san àm ri teachd. Tha e cuideachd a’ beachdachadh air mar a dh’fhaodadh an Àrainn buaidh a thoirt air leasachaidhean eile a chaidh aontachadh mar-thà agus feadhainn a tha san amharc san sgìre taobh a-staigh Frèam-obrach Leasachadh Fàs Slighe an A96.

Tha Plana Siubhail is Ro-innleachd Còmhdhail na h-Àrainn, mar a tha e san TA, a’ toirt iomradh air dòighean brosnachaidh is bacaidh a th’ air an dealbh gus siubhal seasmhach a bhrosnachadh agus gus aon duine a’ siubhal ann an càr a dhì-bhrosnachadh san sgìre sa bheil an leasachadh ga mholadh. Tha ceanglaichean ri Lìonra Prìomh Cheuman Inbhir Nis, busaichean a bhios a’ dol chun na h-Àrainn tric, agus smachd pàircidh air an làraich, nam pàirt dhen ro-innleachd gus buaidh còmhdhail Àrainn Inbhir Nis a chumail cho beag ’s a ghabhas.

Tha conaltradh co-obrachail a’ dol air adhart a thaobh mholaidhean inntrinn dha gach seòrsa còmhdhala. Tha HIE agus luchd-comhairleachaidh ag obair còmhla ri Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd, Transport Scotland agus luchd-solair còmhdhala phoblaich gus siostam còmhdhala seasmhach a lìbhrigeadh a bheir buannachd dhan choimhearsnachd.

The Campus transport system is being designed to be sustainable and deliver benefits to the wider community. It will feature new road and path connections to the Beechwood site that will link in with and extend the city’s existing networks. Tha siostam còmhdhala na h-Àrainn ga dhealbhachadh airson a bhith seasmhach agus gus buannachdan a thoirt dhan choimhearsnachd. Bidh rathad ùr agus slighean ann gu làrach Coille na Faidhbhile a bhios a’ ceangal ri lìonra a’ bhaile mar a tha e agus ga leudachadh.
