  • The second application is for the core academic campus only. It focuses on the delivery of the interim requirements of UHI, Inverness College, SAC, Centre for Health Science, business incubator units and an hotel.
  • The master plan has been altered to accommodate occupiers’ additional requirements.  The core hub activity is clustered towards the central area of the site.
  • An interim crossroads junction is proposed from the south, formed from the existing junction between the A9 slip road and Culloden Road.
  • It is proposed that the Culloden Road and the A9 slip road will be widened to increase traffic capacity and reduce queuing.
  • The indoor sports complex with outdoor facilities has been retained and is regarded as a fundamental part of the phase 1 development proposals.
  • The bridge over the A9 to the north of the site remains a key part of the Phase 1 proposals to provide both pedestrian and cycle linkage between the Campus and the city centre.
  • Time Line

Planning permission for Phase 1 of the development may be granted as early as spring 2010. Infrastructure work will commence soon thereafter with anticipated completion in 2013.

The site will offer the potential for high-value research and development and inward investment. During its development the Campus will become increasingly competitive on a national and international scale.
