Economic BenefitsBuannachdan Eaconamach

Modern further and higher education facilities are proven generators of economic wealth and the Campus will play a major role in the future of Inverness and the wider Highlands and Islands regions. It has been estimated that Inverness Campus could ultimately generate in excess of £147 million per annum to the Scottish economy and £38million per annum to the Highlands and Islands.

The proposed development will result in a new population of young people to the east of Inverness through the provision of new educational facilities. Currently many young people leave the Highlands in pursuit of further and higher education elsewhere. The Inverness Campus development specifically aims to help stem this flow. The development will also result in new jobs and will provide new housing, sports facilities and business opportunities for the local population.

Although Inverness is the UK's fastest growing city, the region has never been served by its own locally based, purpose built, higher education facilities. The Campus will help fill this gap and put the city on the Scottish educational map. It will provide opportunities not just for the local communities but also for wider national and international student communities.

Inverness College currently has a student population of 7,300 and Inverness Campus should allow the college and UHI to increase student numbers to nearly 10,000.

In addition to the direct boost to the Highlands and Islands economy from greater education opportunities, the Campus will also attract innovative commercial businesses interested in research and development.

Tha e dearbhte gu bheil goireasan foghlaim àrd-ìre a’ cruthachadh beairteas eaconamach agus bidh prìomh àite aig a’ Àrainn ann an Inbhir Nis agus sa Ghàidhealtachd is na h-Eileanan san àm ri teachd. A rèir tuairmse dh’fhaodadh Àrainn Inbhir Nis còrr is £38 millean a chur ri eaconamaidh na Gàidhealtachd is nan Eilean air a’ cheann thall.

Bheir an leasachadh a tha san amharc sluagh ùr de dh’òigridh gu taobh an ear Inbhir Nis ri linn nan goireasan foghlaim ùra. An-dràsta tha mòran òigridh a’ fàgail na Gàidhealtachd an tòir air foghlam àrd-ìre. Tha Àrainn Inbhir Nis ag amas gu sònraichte air cuideachadh gus stad a chur air an seo. Thig obraichean ùra an cois an leasachaidh, agus bidh taighean ùra ann, goireasan spòrs agus cothroman gnìomhachais do mhuinntir an àite.

Ged as e Inbhir Nis am baile as luaithe a tha a’ fàs san RA, cha robh riamh goireasan foghlaim àrd-ìre, a thogadh a dh’aon ghnothaich, anns an sgìre. Cuidichidh an Àrainn ann a bhith a’ lìonadh na beàrn seo agus bidh am baile an uair sin air map foghlaim na h-Alba. Bheir e cothroman, chan ann a-mhàin do choimhearsnachdan na sgìre, ach cuideachd do dh’oileanaich nàiseanta is eadar-nàiseanta.

Tha 7,300  oileanach an-dràsta ann an Colaiste Inbhir Nis agus bu chòir gun toireadh Àrainn Inbhir Nis cothrom dhan cholaiste agus do UHI an àireamh a leudachadh gu faisg air 10,000.

A bharrachd air an fheum a dhèanadh barrachd chothroman foghlaim do dh’eaconamaidh na Ghàidhealtachd is nan Eileanan, tàlaidhidh an Àrainn cuideachd gnìomhachasan malairteach nuadhasach le ùidh ann an rannsachadh is ann an leasachadh.

The Campus will be one of the most significant development projects in the Highlands and Islands in the next 20 years and an important centre in the planned expansion of East Inverness. Bidh an Àrainn air fear dhe na pròiseactan leasachaidh as cudromaiche air a’ Ghàidhealtachd is sna h-Eileanan sna 20 bliadhna a tha romhainn agus bidh e na phrìomh ionad san leasachadh a tha san amharc airson Inbhir Nis an Ear.
